WeChat messenger blocked accounts of cryptocurrency media

The blockchain- and crypto-media accounts in the Chinese instant messenger WeChat, owned by Tencent, were suddenly blocked on Tuesday. This is written by CoinDesk with reference to local media.

The first one about the problem was the Chinese source of financial news Lanjiner, who drew attention to the inaccessibility of the account of the crypto-media sponsored by Node Capital Jinse and Deepchain – a site supported by several token funds.

Currently, articles previously placed in the Jinse account are not available, and instead of them, the text indicating its blocking is displayed.

“In connection with user complaints and after studying the problem with the platform, it was found that the account violated the” Temporary requirements to the development and management of public information dissemination services in instant messaging tools, “and therefore all its contents were blocked. The use of the account is prohibited,” the message says.

The same message is displayed in the accounts of Deepchain, Huobi News and CoinDaily.

Temporary requirements for the development and management of public information dissemination services in instant messaging tools were developed by the Office of Cyberspace of China and entered into force on 7 August.

One of the rules prescribed in them allows you to block accounts if they violate the requirements of current legislation.

“Users of instant messaging tools in public information dissemination services must comply with the requirements of current legislation. For example, if the IM service users violate the terms of the agreement, the IM service provider must take measures such as warning, limiting, suspending and closing the account, while maintaining the relevant records and notifying the responsible services,” the rules say.

In March this year, the Chinese government edition of People’s Daily directly criticized the cryptocurrency media, saying that they contribute to the manipulation of the cryptocurrency market. The founder and CEO of the Huobi Exchange, Jun Du, was then called the “classic example” of the problems existing in the ecosystem of Chinese blockchain-media.
