As part of the ongoing debate over the past few weeks on the proposal to improve the Ethereum EIP 867 protocol, Vitalik Buterin stood up for the protection of the Ethereum governance mechanism, noting that it has some disadvantages, but overall it remains effective. This is reported by CoinDesk.
“I am personally convinced that our management model is not so bad. The problem is not in the mechanism itself, but in our interaction with it,” said Buterin at the Ethereum developers meeting.
Many community representatives questioned the authority and the ability of the Ethereum development team, led by the platform’s founder, to resolve such disputes as the one that arose around EIP 867 – proposals for a standardized format for the return of lost funds.
The founder of Ethereum is convinced that the community has the wrong impression that the EIP 867 will soon be implemented in the main protocol, and the developers do not want to talk about it openly. However, as Buterin assures, the proposal is still at the draft stage.
“I believe that in the context of this proposal there is no place for debate. Do not call it a rough draft, because there is only a technical issue. Everything should not be so complicated and contradictory,” stressed one of the main apologists of EIP 867 Greg Colvin.
In response to EIP 867, the developer of Ethereum, Alex van de Sande, introduced an immunity proposal (IMP) to standardize the process of rejecting a refund, stressing that opposing standards can also be implemented in the main protocol.
“I believe that this is a reasonable solution in this situation,” – said Buterin with regard to the proposal of van de Sande.
