The well-known company-manufacturer of electric vehicles Tesla became a victim of hackers: due to the vulnerability discovered, the unknown had access to the cloud infrastructure of the company and used its resources for cryptocurrency mining, Gizmodo reports.

The fact of hacking was discovered by specialists of the RedLock company, specializing in cyber security. As stated in the report, hackers took advantage of a vulnerability in the service Kubernetes from Google, which used Tesla. Using this console, attackers got access to the cloud infrastructure of the company based on Amazon Web Services and used the power for mining.

A Tesla representative said in an interview that personal user data was not affected in the process of hacking.

RedLock Technical Director Gorav Kumar noted that the current cloud environment is particularly vulnerable for break-ins with the purpose of mining, which are becoming increasingly popular with the rise in the price of cryptocurrencies.

Recall, like break-ins cloud service Amazon has been before. Last year RedLock experts  found that the group of people were able to use for the same purpose cloud resources companies Aviva and Gemalto.
